⚡️FLASH CLASS ⚡️ Sunday, October 3rd at 3pm (EST) Let me premise this post by saying everything below is NEW info for me too!!! 🤯 We had kids from N. California, S. California, NC, & NYC. Ages 6-9. It was an awesome class! DID YOU KNOW: We learned about the differences between Pumpkins, Squashes & Gourds. They are all part of the Cucurbitaceae Family (kew-kur-bit-taysee). Pumpkins, Squash, Gourds & Watermelon are ALL part of this family & are all FRUIT!!! And all SQUASHES!!! Yes, fruits are the edible part of plants whose seeds are inside!!! The Cucurbitaceae family can be divided up into Summer & Winter Squashes and there are about 1000 species. They are the largest source of food for the planet and generally grow in tropical to temperate climates. Summer squashes have a soft skin. Winter squashes have a thick skin. Zucchini & Yellow squash are Summer Squashes. Watermelons, Cantelope, Honey Dew & Cucumbers are Summer Squashes too! Acorn, Butternut, Buttercup, Bottle Gourd, Pumpkin & Spaghetti Squash are Winter Squashes. (Some Pumpkins can be Gourds too!) SQUASHES ARE EDIBLE. ALL GOURDS ARE INEDIBLE! Gourds can be used for decoration and for making sturdy bowls. We reviewed with a game of kahoot! And then made our 3d cards!!! AND OF COURSE HAVING FUN THE ENTIRE TIME!!! (Pumpkin Jokes were shared…🤣) Check out the creativity of these crafty cards! ❤️Thanks to the kids and the Moms! ❤️ #themcnuttprofessor #pumpkinpopup #artsandcrafts #artmeetsagriculture #activitiesforkids #homeschoolmama #homeschoolactivities #fall #art #3dart #artclasses #artandscience #fallyall #cardsforkindness
